Mary Hertler Tallman

Mary grew up in Jackson, Michigan in an environment of art, museum visits and outdoor adventures. Her father was a professional engineer but always kept a sketchbook. Her mother was a teacher whose Danish and German ancestors were both fine artists and decorative artists.
Mary graduated from the University of Michigan and Spring Arbor University. Earning both a Bachelor of
Fine Arts with a major in painting/drawing and a Master of Arts in Education.
She has been a plein air artist for the last dozen years, dividing her time between Michigan and Florida. She and her husband have raised three sons and enjoy their nine grandchildren. Three of whom she sees as promising budding artists.
Painting is a metabolic necessity to her, much like breathing. She aspires to lift the viewer up to see beauty, for she believes Art is the language of eternity.
